Tamara Otero is the mother of four children and a wife of twenty-five years. She and her husband Andrew are local business owners of A&D Fire Protection and General Contracting. Eighteen years ago her oldest son Dryw entered Kindergarten and Tamara made the decision to become personally involved with her children's education. She believed that parents are their children's own best advocates. This belief has been her driving motivation for the past eighteen years of work within the education system.
For eighteen years Tamara has sat on a PTA board. For six of these years she served as President of the PTA at the Elementary and Middle school levels. During this time she chartered and started the parent groups at Los Coches Creek Middle School. In addition, she served two years as the President of Council PTA where she mentored floundering PTA's at schools where relationships between parents and administration had broken down. She advised them on how to grow and collaborate with their administrations to create partnerships that benefit students and their communities. During this time Tamara recognized the opportunity to expand students education outside the classroom by exposing them to philanthropy and empathy beyond the experience of traditional education.
