Early on Eric J. Perrodin committed his life to public service. After graduating from California State University Dominguez Hills in 1982 with a degree in Business Administration, Eric was hired as a police officer by the City of Compton, the city in which he had lived his entire life. Eric worked several assignments with the City of Compton Police Department, community affairs, gangs, narcotics and detective.

Eric's accolades include being designated as one of the youngest officers promoted to the position of Sergeant in the history of the Compton Police Department and was active in serving his fellow officers as President of the Compton Police Officers Association. Eric has continually lived in the City of Compton and was practicing the "Community Based Policing" concept before it became vogue. In keeping with his dedication to serving his community, Eric participated with his fellow Compton Police Department employees in several Christmas variety shows, which raised funds to purchase food and gifts for needy families.

Committed and determined to further his education, Eric attended Loyola Law School while working as a Compton police officer. Passing the bar examination on his first try, Eric was licensed to practice law in the State of California. In 1995, after serving twelve years with the Compton Police Department, he was hired by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office as a Deputy District Attorney. It has always been Eric's desire that the City of Compton be the best city it can be. On June 5, 2001, the citizens of Compton elected Eric J. Perrodin, Mayor of Compton.
