In order to maximize learning for every student we must focus on student engagement, academic growth and improved instruction.
Working with my colleagues, the Board of Trustees of the Huntington Beach Union High School District, I have placed an emphasis on student engagement, academic growth and improved instruction. During the 2011-2012 school year the Board of Trustees was able to accomplish the following academic highlights:

  • Offered comprehensive curriculums and promoted current technology
  • Increased college and career readiness of all students
  • Technology upgrades including 21st century Google platforms, iPADS, Chrome Books and Tablet PC computers
  • Test scores have increased every year
  • Pole Vault projection systems installed in all classrooms
  • Common Assessments created in target curricular areas
  • Professional development plan instituted for all employees utilizing local experts and external consultants
  • Recruited, hired, and retained diverse highly-qualified teachers
