Candidate for
Member, Board of Trustees; Village of Croton-On-Hudson

As a lifelong resident of the Village I was motivated to run for office two years ago on a plank of revitalizing the Harmon area of the Village, South Riverside Avenue in particular. The goal was to create new fresh development in a part of the Village that had not seen any refurbishment in decades. This stagnated tax revenues and shifted burden upon the residential taxpayer who periodically upgraded their own properties.

I was elected along with current Mayor Wiegman and former Trustee Demetra Restuccia sweeping out three Republican incumbents who wanted no improvements or any cchange whatsoever. We passed a modest zoning law to encourage commercial redevelopment, and were promptly sued by some very vocal opponents.

We have responded with proposing a new law which addresses each of their fears (I think... although new fears crop up when convienient) which include parking,residential dwelling size and the ability to have office space on the third floor of a building. Furthermore, we have retained the Special Permit of the existing law. This keeps in place a lever which gives the Village Board even more control over any POTENTIAL development.

We have listened to the concerns, we have reacted with a better law and it is my goal to see the modest change in zoning take place.

We have missed several opportunities in this part of the Village because of the very expensive legal action which has been foisted upon the taxpayers by people who do not have the same progressive vision for our Village that I do.
