Recession Proofing Wlanut Home Values

By Tom King

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Walnut

This information is provided by the candidate
Walnut is a City that while it is fairly new, it's government has remained focused on City improvements that make it a desirable place for people to live.
Tom King has kept his vision of a perfectly balanced community at the forefront of his goals. Part of this has been maintaining it's unique urban rural environment. Parks have been improved, attractive shopping centers have been developed, and city recreation programs expanded.

Improvements during his time in office include the new median strips on Valley Boulevard, and improvements to park facilities. Our parks have earned the title of "Best in California."

Mayor King personally settled the Walnut Hills litigation through personal negotiation. This resulted in the acquisitin of the larges open space in the history of Walnut, and the preservation of one of the largest natural open spaces in the San Gabriel Valley.

Personal negotiation is what led to the restart of the quite zone, which will stop the blaring of horns along Valley Boulevard. Negotiation always works better than litigation.

Enhancing our City's attractive features while maintaining our ver special urban rural environment has helped keep Walnut one of the most desirable places to live. Sound decisions have been made under the leadership of Tom King to make this better. Looking back at the last eight years, anyone can see that there has been positive change.

In a survey conducted by the Rose Institute of Claremont McKennna College, 96% of 400 residents surveyed on the quality of life in Walnut rated their City as excellent or good. This was the highest approval rating ever received by a City surveyed by the organization.

What makes Walnut the best? Sound decisions, solid experienced leadership.
