My qualifications for Highway Superintendent

As a professional Operating Engineer with 30 plus years of expertise I consistently have been asked to consult with the General Manager during all critical stages of project advancements. I intend to utilize my vast knowledge for the Town of North Salem by establishing a positive and productive working relationship at the Highway Department that will strive to improve and maintain all town roads and parks in a safe and cost effective manner.

Summary of Accomplishments

• Expert in excavation techniques, shooting grades, layout, installation of NYS specifications, steep slopes, asphalt paving and crane operation.
• Over 30 years of personal/professional experience, 20 years with Local 137 Operating Engineers gaining a steady increase in responsibility.
• Directed and trained crews of 20 constructors on a regular basis.
• Owner of The One Horse Tavern, Croton Falls, NY 1994-1999. Turned failed bar into a profitable bar/restaurant.

• Reconstruction of #5 Subway Station in Brooklyn, NY.
• Three years excavating 16 acres at the World Trade Center Site for new buildings, monument and path station.
• Engaged with improvements to the Taconic State Parkway.
• Other assignments included new bridge and interchange slopes in Wurtsboro, new track and football filed at John Jay High School, Carmel Sewer Treatment Plant; and ran an 80 ton crane at the Pace College Library.

• Installation of new sewer and water mains for the City of Santa Rosa.

• Excavation and drainage capability at Athens Power Plant in Athens, New York.
• Various assignments involving deep and hazardous trenches in Westchester, Putnam and Duchess Counties. Several class training assignments were part of these engagements.
