Coastal Preservation:

By Sally Benedict Jeisy

Candidate for Council Member; City of San Clemente

This information is provided by the candidate
Shoreline retention is an essential element of our City's image and economy.
Clean beaches and ocean water are a must. Beach erosion has diminished our coast and threatens important coastal facilities and infrastructure. A healthy beach provides substantial economic benefit to our community and local business. I support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Shoreline Feasibility Study.

I believe we can improve the water quality of our beaches, canyons and creeks through continued urban runoff management. We need to address old issue such as stagnate "pools" filled with debris along our beaches which are breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

We need to address new issues such as building "clean" roads and projects with catch basins. These basins have the means to filter and clean water before it is released back into our environment.

These are sound investments and a clear choice for our future.
