  • Author of Arcata's Police Review Act, Free Music and Entertainment Act and Patient Protection Act.
  • Board Director, Redwood Chapter, American Civil Liberties Union (Arcata); Board Director, Northern California ACLU (San Francisco).
  • Introduced California's first municipal ban on growing Genetically Modified Organisms, adopted by Council and now in effect in Arcata.

  • Arcata needs careful government spending and stronger fiscal management - Public money must be invested & spent with social & enviro. responsibility.
  • Support and nurture local businesses to build a sustainable economy consistent with our desire for environmentally benign industries and green values.
  • Designate higher density zones centered around downtown (taller structures) w/50% residential space - to save our open space & woods from development.

Building a United Arcata
Greg Allen believes a new spirit of cooperation with Mayor Machi and a reformed Council setting a respectful tone has the potential to unleash Arcata's economic and cultural vitality -- but only with the right tiebreaker in the fifth seat.
The case for High Tech in Arcata
For Arcata's local economy to flourish, wages in Arcata need to increase. With tourism insufficient to the task, Greg believes Arcata must become a center for technology development to generate high wages and more revenues for city programs.
Arcata, Civil Liberties and You
Civil liberties are not only a concern for other times or in other countries, but here and now in Arcata, where a recent proposal sought to create two classes of citizens amongst landlords and tenants. With the Patriot Act and other ongoing challenges, we need constant vigilance to preserve this core conservative value.
