Full Biography for Michael J. Verrengia

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Westminster School District

Family: Married 24yrs to Julie, daughters Chrystal and Cindy attended WSD schools.

Currently serve as a Governing Board Member for WSD. I am also a Reserve Police Officer for Garden Grove PD, serving for the last 18yrs. I have twice been named Res.Ofc. of the Year (86 & 87). Won the Calif. Law Enforcement Reserve Coordinators Assoc. (CLERCA) "Senority Service Award" for 1995, and the "Valor Award" for 1996. The Valor Award was given to me for rescuing a motorist, who was being attacked by two gang members armed with scissors.

I am a Viet Nam veteran, serving in the USCG 1969-1973. I attained the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class, and was trained as a Search and Rescue (S.A.R.) Boat Coxswain.

As a Board Member, I was awarded the "Master of Boardsmanship" award by the Calif. School Boards Assoc. This was achieved by attending 14 different training seminars put on by CSBA. Served as Board President in 1995 and 1997. Currently serve as Board Clerk.
